Why are family portraits important?

Family photographs are a comforting reminder of the good times. Family photographs bring your family together. They serve as a reminder of your love for each other. Family photos connect us to those who came before us. By letting your children see your photos from the past and present, they connect with their own history. They get to know the family members and ancestors who came before them and helped shape the world and the person they see today. For as time marches on, it is the memories of loved ones that we will cherish most to document. Family photos can express emotions that words cannot.

Family photos are powerful. They take us back in time. They are a good way to reminisce. They are also part of our legacy. In years to come, grandchildren and great-grandchildren may someday ask to see family photos, and wouldn't it be sad if there were few or none to share? Having the photos brings the family together again as they look back on their lives.

Children seem to be growing up faster than ever. Family portraits are a great way to document the progress of their growth, seeing how they change from year to year. Plus, remembering the trends and styles of the past is sure to make us laugh for years to come. Photos, like memories and stories, are part of our legacy.

We hold them close and pass them on. It is a gift to be able to share a picture of moments, details, people, places and things with our loved ones, so that they too can feel even a hint of the joy we feel when we remember those moments.

I personally had a wonderful experience with our photographer taking family pictures. She was also brilliant with the children. My nephews were between 1 and 4 years old and she worked really well with them, engaging them and making sure they kept eye contact with the camera. We were a group of 12 people and I would say she handled our family very well. Her name is Anna Bauman and she is considered one of the best baby photographers in Pittsburgh.

Our edited photos were provided very quickly, within one week. What impressed me was that Anna was very available when I contacted her to discuss and ask her opinion on how to edit some of the photos and recommendations for other printed products.

We ended up purchasing a gift for the grandparents and a gift for our own family.  In addition, establishing a tradition of portraits in our family is likely to carry over into our children's future and apply to their own families. When children are younger, taking a family portrait each year is a good way to document each child's progress as they grow up.

Today, families increasingly view their images exclusively in digital format, whether on a mobile device, laptop or social media. Because photography is such a powerful tool in today's world, you have the opportunity to capture wonderful family portraits and relive them in the future. Nowadays, virtually everyone has a camera in their pocket, but that is no substitute for a professional family portrait that you can proudly hang in your home. These photos have a lot of value and memories attached to them, but they simply cannot replace the value of a professional family portrait.

Life is very busy and it is not possible to "FIND" time to have a portrait session, the time has to be "MADE" Don't let life pass you by and look back, wondering why you didn't take the time to have family photos done. A framed portrait placed in the home serves as a brief but constant daily reminder that "this is where I came from and this is where I belong". If you're like most people, you've thought about having a family portrait but haven't done it. You should reconsider this today! Give your local photographer a call - you will be happy you did.
